Synovium is virtually a Tasteless, Colourless, & Harmless Natural Supplement.

Oral supplementation may provide many positive health benefits.

For Horses.
Hyaluronic Acid is a special protein occurring naturally throughout the horse’s body. Its function in the body is, amongst other things, to bind water and lubricate moveable parts of the body such as joints and muscles. Some key features include: lubrication of inflamed joints, increased joint mobility, reduction of joint friction, and alleviation of joint pain during activity. HA Oral offers the same benefit of IV or injected H.A. products without the needle. No needles mean no risk of infection, trauma, transient heat, excessive bleeding, or other risks needles may have. HA Oral is convenient, both to you and your horse. Just place 30 ml (you may prefer to use a syringe) direct onto tongue once a day as a maintenance dose .Also may be added to the feed .Use more (up to 60mls or more) depending on severity of the problem Use as much as you can afford as you cannot overdose. Use daily for best results. For larger dosage, best given twice daily prior to light work or exercise.

HA’s Role Within Joints
HA is a naturally occurring constituent of connective tissues, cartilage, and synovial fluid.  It is responsible for the high viscosity properties of synovial fluid whose function is to cushion and lubricate joints.

Joint injuries typically cause inflammation that degrades the viscosity and elasticity of synovial fluid.  Through a destructive process called depolymerization, the quality of synovial HA is reduced and the molecular weight is rapidly decreased.
The Intra-articular administration of HA has been used in animals and humans with reported clinical effectiveness.  HA is being used to relieve pain and improve joint mobility in the treatment of osteoarthritis.  It has also been proposed for various degenerative joint diseases as an alternative to traditional steroid therapy.
In cartilage, HA is linked to proteoglycan molecules to form the tissue matrix that entraps water molecules.  This moisture rich tissue matrix provides the protective biomechanical function of cartilage.  In the early stages of osteoarthritis, articular cartilage degradation occurs, and there is a loss of proteoglycans, HA, and later collagen.
With osteoarthritis, the combination of reduced trauma and increased HA will soon soften the hardened tissue, restore circulation, and relieve pain – promoting quicker healing!  HA works largely by counteracting the metalloproteinases and prostaglandin E2 which are involved in the inflammatory process and the perception of pain.

Understanding Joint Anatomy
To understand your horse, one must become familiar with the anatomy of a healthy functioning joint. Let's start off with understanding the joint capsule. The joint capsule is a thick fibrous tissue that connects the bones, provides the outer layer of the joint and holds the fluid inside the joint cavity. The muscles serve to support the joint capsule and to provide joint movement. The tendon is an elastic cord that attaches the muscle to the bone and assist with movement. The synovial membrane is the inner lining of the joint capsule. It is highly vascularized and therefore is responsible for carrying nutrients to the joint and most importantly, producing the synovial fluid. The synovial fluid is a clear viscous fluid that lubricates the joints. It consists of blood plasma and hyaluronic acid. Without it, joint movement would be extremely painful and articular cartilage becomes damaged. The cartilage covers the ends of the bones and absorbs most of compression and stress in the joint. Because it is a slippery material, it allows the joints to move smoothly and easily. Overall, the parts of the joint have to work together, but the two most important parts are the synovial fluid which provides the lubrication for the joint and the cartilage, which absorbs the stress. When these two are damaged, joint pain is unavoidable.

Benefits of Hyaluronic Acid

  • Supports joint health and cartilage function for your horse.
  • Reduces joint friction
  • Increases joint mobility
  • Provides lubrication and shock absorption for joints.
  • Helps alleviate pain associated with normal daily exercise & activity

Veterinary Validation of Joint Disorders .You decide!
Validating joint disorders can be very difficult.
Your veterinarian will have his own protocol, but listed below our some of the tools that you and your vet might use.

1. First your vet will evaluate the case history of your horse. As part of this backgrounding your vet may ask you several questions about your horse's care and activities to determine a potential cause of the joint problem.
2. Next your vet will do a physical examination of your horse. This usually involves palpating the areas of concern. Most vets are very skilled with their hands and can often feel if a joint is inflamed and swollen.
3. The veterinarian will inspect your horse at a walk and a trot. They will walk them in a straight line watching for any lameness.
4. Your veterinarian may perform a flexion test. This is done by bending the joint and holding for at least one minute and then released. After the joint is released, the horse is observed while walking and trotting. Often times this will exaggerate the lameness and make it more clearly visible during activity.
5. It may be necessary to perform a radiographic x-ray examination to get a visual representation of what may be causing the lameness.
6. Your veterinarian may remove by needle some of the synovial fluid located in the joint to determine if an infection is present.

What is Hyaluronic Acid?

Firstly it's a Natural Substance found in almost all connective tissue like Ligaments, Tendons, Cartilage, & Muscles.

Higher concentrations are found in the eyes, skin, heart valves, and vocal cords.

But most importantly it's used in Synovial fluid to cushion every joint in the body, helping to protect against cartilage damage!

As the body ages, there is a general reduction in HA production which continues to deteriorate, unless supplemented by foods which are naturally high in HA. The symptoms of low HA levels include less cushioning between the joints, poor eye-sight, faulty heart valves, less joint flexibility, hardened ligaments, excessive wear on cartilage, tight tendons, wrinkles, and much more....

How do you know drinking HA is absorbed?

In Washington. D.C., April 18, 2004 .A consortium of scientists released clinical research results about oral delivery of radiolabeled Hyaluronan (HA) and its ability to be taken up by joints. Until now, there was no data on pharmacokinetics after oral intake and the therapeutic use of hyaluronic acid was limited to injections or topical applications. The results of this study, which examined the absorption, excretion and distribution of radiolabeled HA after a single oral administration in Wistar rats and Beagle dogs, demonstrated that HA is absorbed and distributed to organs and joints after a single oral administration.

This is the first time hyaluronic acid has been reported to be absorbed orally, which paves the way for HA dietary supplements to be introduced and deliver on anti-aging and joint health promises.

Synovium HA is a solution of 1000mg of Hyaluronic Acid suspended in a sterile solution of Distilled Water. The molecular size of our HA is 3M Dalton molecular, which means that it is very easily absorbed via the normal digestion process. You only need to take 1 x 20 mls per day (85mg), approx 30mins before your morning meal, in a glass of water or fruit juice. Larger doses may be required initially to overcome severe pain.Note: Now this is now in a thicker solution and is very suited for animal application .

Note: A lot of Hyaluronic Acid in the market place is produced from animal/bird origin. Our hyaluronic acid is made from an extracellular substance produced by a bacteria. There are no animal derivatives in this product.. Since HA is native to the human body, and our product is not derived from animal tissue, hypersensitivity is not a concern. There are no known side effects. However, please check with your healthcare professional should you have any concerns, especially if one is undergoing any form of cancer treatments.

You may expect to pay up to $70+ for only 50mg of Hyaluronic Acid - here you have 60 x as much in 1g.
